Your values

mg

Enter the amount listed on the vial label in milligrams.

mL

The calculation treats added water volume as the final solution volume.

Your entered amount is used only for the conversion.

U-100 scale only: 100 units = 1 mL. Size changes capacity, not the conversion.

    How the math works

    Concentration

Labeled amount ÷ water volume added

The labeled amount in mg divided by the entered water volume in mL gives concentration in mg/mL.

    Volume for an entered target

    Target amount ÷ concentration

The entered target in mg divided by concentration in mg/mL gives volume in mL. A target in mcg is divided by 1,000 first.

    U-100 scale conversion

    Volume in mL × 100

100 scale units = 1 mL on U-100 syringes. The selected barrel size determines capacity. This conversion does not apply to other syringe scales.

The math assumes the labeled amount is uniformly distributed and the added water volume equals the final solution volume. Actual final volume may differ; results depend on this assumption. The calculator does not select a target amount or assess whether one is appropriate.
